Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so even the very Busy Fam shouldn't skimp on this meal. Sometimes when we are in a hurry it can be really easy to get caught up in our morning and not properly fuel our bodies or even our kids bodies for that matter (Haven't you heard? Many kid cereals contain as much suger as a twinkie or three chocolate chip cookies!-more on that below) , here is a quick and easy breakfast option for the whole fam bam that they can even take on the go:
Hard Boiled Eggs
I'm going to go ahead and assume you know how to boil eggs and choose your own favorite brand of granola bars. That said, here is what you need and how you make the smoothie:
-Bag of frozen fruit (your choice 16oz/1lb standard bag)
-1 fesh banana
-Orange juice (your choice again, but I gotta tell you my fav brand is Simply Orange)
How to make:
Note- I didn't give measurements on this one because it's safe to eyeball it and add ingredients according to your own taste.
Step 1- Add frozen fruit, a fresh banana, and pour some OJ into the blender. I recommend that you start off with about a cup of OJ until you see what consistency you want the smoothie to be.
Step 2- Blend until its smoooth ....(duh...lol)
Step 3- Serve immediately and ENJOY with the rest of your breakfast!
You can also add some plain yogurt in step 1 if you like dairy in your smoothie. This is yummy too and gives a slightly smoother consistency.
Lately (as of Feb 2012) I've been adding dry Old Fashioned Quaker Oats, spinach, and kale to the recipe you see above. I've been on this smooothie kick every morning and I feel awesome! There are great benefits with certain food combos like leafy greens and OJ or OJ and Oatmeal. Check out more about this here:
