As parents, it's not uncommon to be busy all the time doing everything to take care of the stuff we feel is so important and must get done in order to run our households. Laundry, bills, cooking, cleaning, groceries, bathing kids, wash/fix the car, walk the dog, etc. I get it. We are super busy.
In the midst of your busy-ness where are the much deserved breaks? When I say breaks I'm talking about literal breaks for your own refueling as well as breaks of quality time with those other beings in your household. You know, the little people living in your home that you do any and everything for even though they drive you absolutely crazy at times? Yeah those.
Every once on a while running around needs to come to a halt...even when everything didn't get done...because its an endless cycle and you can let some other really important things pass you by! For example, when is the last time you picked up a book? No, not your tablet. An actual book with pages. I'm not gonna get into the debate about which is better out of ebooks and traditional books because I see pros and cons in both. This is why I personally try to have balance with the two and consciously choose not to let traditional books become obsolete in my household as I embrace new technology. Simply reading a book for yourself and/or to your kids has a WEALTH of benefits.

Reading Is Good For Your Health AND Social Life!
I'm not saying go run out and join a book club. This is just a gentle reminder that reading really is fundamental and it can be such a gift to yourself and/or your kids to read a book, but guess what? It takes some time which means you NEED to find a way to implement reading time into that busy schedule of yours. It can take as little as 5 minutes or be even longer and that is the beauty of it. I challenge you to make this happen. No excuses.
